Description
Homebuilt boat using Jericho Bay Lobster Skiff plans obtained from Wooden Boat magazine. Construction started in September 2015 and the boat was finished in June 2022. Hull is made of Douglas fir strips bonded together with epoxy resin. The interior and exterior hull were covered in 2 layers of 10 oz fiberglass cloth using epoxy resin. The transom is made of sapele and covered in 10 oz fiberglass cloth using epoxy resin. Breasthook, quarter knees, seats, deck planks, inner and outer gunwales and helm stand are mahogany coated with high gloss varnish.
Engine is a 2022 Honda BF 20D3 SRT outboard. ( 4-stroke, 20 hp, electric start, power tilt, remote control). Engine, controls, instruments (tach, hour meter and depth finder), battery and battery switch were installed by Westside Marine in Stockton, Missouri. Engine has 11 hours break in run time (5 of those hours were by Westside Marine in their shop). Boat has been in the water on 3 occasions since July 2022.
Boat is on a Rolco trailer that was refurbished to accommodate the boat. Trailer has new tires, a spare tire, guide posts for centering, bearing buddies and a hinged tongue saving 18 inches of storage space.
Boat has a Missouri title and registration tag. Trailer also has a Missouri title and license plate. The engine is registered with state of Missouri.
In 2015 when I started construction of the boat I lived on the Lake of the Ozarks and had an empty slip on my dock and intended to keep the boat on a lift in that slip. The need to be closer to medical resources necessitated leaving the lake and moving to Springfield, Missouri in 2020. The boat was finished in June 2022 and is sitting on the trailer in my garage. The boat has never been left outside except for the 3 times it was in the water or being trailered.
The boat is in immaculate condition and a 15 minute video detailing construction and first run on Fellowes Lake near Springfield, Mo is available on the internet.
