Nestled in the Ozark Mountains, Bull Shoals Lake beckons visitors with its pristine waters and endless opportunities for recreation. From boating and fishing to swimming and camping, this haven has been a favorite getaway for decades, and with good reason!
Created in 1951 by the Bull Shoals Dam, the lake serves multiple purposes. The dam, the last stop before the White River empties into the Mississippi, was built by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and hydroelectric power generation. Water levels fluctuate to maintain flood protection for residents, farmers, and businesses. This has resulted in a mostly undeveloped shoreline, preserving the rugged beauty of the Ozarks, with its steep bluffs and rocky ledges.
