Description

Listen before you call: 4-minute audio feature on Prelude — hull, engines, history, and the case for slow cruising in the PNW: https://youtu.be/gYOUJ6Q1k2w?si=WadmIz4NWZiS9qBf

Hull #27 of the Grand Banks 36, and believed to be the first twin-engine 36 ever built. Built by American Marine Ltd., Hong Kong, 1965. LOA 36'10" | Beam 12'8" | Draft 4'0".

We have owned Prelude for 25 years. When we purchased her in Seattle she was already in covered freshwater moorage — we maintained that throughout our ownership. She came to us with an interesting history: old documents suggested she was originally named Hot Pursuit, hailed from San Diego, and served as a race committee boat. Those documents have since been misplaced and we can't produce them, but that's the provenance as best we know it. Survey welcome.

Condition & Value Overall condition: Good and Serviceable — rare for a 60-year-old wooden hull. Appraised fair market value: $52,000–$54,000. Replacement value: $550,000–$600,000. Asking $40,000 cash — fast, clean sale, no broker.

Structural Full refastening and recaulking below the waterline completed 2016. Thousands of bronze screws replaced throughout. Chine logs replaced approximately 10 years ago. New Blue Seas AC and DC distribution panelboards. GFCI outlets throughout. Current electrical diagrams aboard.

Engines Twin Ford Lehman Super 135 diesel, 135 HP each (Model 2725E). Port: 3,362 hrs | Starboard: 3,301 hrs. Capable of 11 knots; cruises comfortably at 8. These engines are legendarily reliable — marine tractors with significant service life remaining.

Generator Marken Next Generation Type BL105C, 5.0 KVA — 91 hours. Essentially new.

Fuel & Water 400-gallon fuel capacity (black iron tanks) | 140-gallon fresh water.

Navigation Garmin GPSMap 740S (GPS/Plotter/Radar). Standard Horizon Matrix GX2000 VHF. Apelco depth sounder. E.S. Ritchie compass.

Safety Fire extinguishers (tagged/tested). USCG-approved visual distress signals. Life jackets. Throwable devices. High-water alarm system.

Amenities Force 10 3-burner propane stove with oven. Sanyo microwave and refrigerator/freezer. Dickinson Newport propane cabin heater. Two Raritan PH II marine heads. One shower.
