1980 Morgan 461 Sloop
This 1980 Morgan 461 is a rare find in the current market. Her current and past owners have continuously upgraded and maintained this center cockpit.
She is well equipped for northern and southern latitude sailing with a full enclosure and both a winter cover and a full Caribbean shade system included. She has 3 cabins with a V-berth forward, a mid-cabin bunk room, and an aft master cabin, along with a convertible settee in the main salon, and can easily accommodate a crew of 8.
Some cosmetic repairs remain to be completed; some recent improvements have been made in the last several years, including a full bottom job in 2024, a new propeller, a new propeller shaft, a dry shaft seal, a shaft coupling, some new sails, a new roller furling system, complete new standing rigging, a new windward sheeting traveler system, and new stainless steel handrails.
This boat has been sailed extensively over the years. She loves to sit at anchor on her Rocna 55# with long anchor chain and rode and has ridden out many a storm without a hitch. The secondary anchor, a Fortress 37 and rode, is secured at the bow as well, and it works beautifully as a stern anchor in tight locations when needed. A dedicated sail track on the mast accommodates a storm trysail, and she has a matching storm jib.
This Morgan is equipped with over 1000 watts of solar panels and a 525 amp-hour AGM battery; she powers all of the LED lighting, including an LED anchor light, along with refrigeration and a freezer (both need recharged), a toaster oven, and a TV. You rarely need to run the engine to produce power. An air conditioner in the companionway keeps the boat temperature controlled.
