Description

Immaculate condition 1998 Sea Ray 400 Express Cruiser with CAT diesels and tender.  You won’t find another 40 ft $129k boat anywhere on the U.S. East Coast in such good condition inside and out.

The long length, low profile, shallow draft, low vertical (bridge) clearance, and high speed of this boat make it the perfect boat for many coastal and offshore scenarios.  Your time is valuable - this boat will get you to your destination quickly, economically, and turn heads along the way!

Powered by the highly desired late model 350 hp Caterpillar 3116 diesel engines with low hours.  Only 14.3 gph at 28 mph / 24 knots.

Upgraded in 2025 to be comfortable and functional at anchor / mooring for weeks.  The two stateroom layout and single bathroom with separate shower make her ideal for extended cruising or entertaining.  The water and holding tanks easily support a couple for a week (daily showers) before the need to visit a fuel dock.  The settee area pulls out to sleep additional guests.

The 8 kW diesel generator with low hours powers the forward and main salon separate HVAC units (air conditioning and/or heat), as well as the water heater, stove, microwave, air fryer / oven / broiler, and refrigerator.

All salon DC powered items (LED lights, USB outlets, water pump, head, etc.) including the refrigerator / freezer are powered by a 320 Ah LiFEPO4 (lithium) battery installed 2025.  The high capacity of the battery permits up to 48 hours of DC operation before the need to charge the battery with the generator or shore power.  Daily charging of only 2.5 by generator is sufficient for long term off-grid living.

Anchor in confidence anywhere in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW), Florida Keys, Bahamas, Caribbean.  The anchor and rode was upgraded in 2025 to a Rocna Mk II 25 (55 lb) galvanized (one size larger than recommended for the boat), and a rode consisting of 150 ft of 5/16” HT / G4 galvanized chain spliced to 100 ft of 5/8” nylon rope.  The Lofrans Progress.1 windlass confidently deploys and retrieves the anchor and rode.  A chain locker stores the rope and chain.

A new inflatable tender and outboard confidently transports 3+1 people from boat to shore. The 17” inflation tubes keep everyone dry during high wind conditions.  The tender stores in a simple davit on the aft of the Sea Ray.

Helm navigation electronics include 2x Garmin chartplotters, sonar (fish finder), and radar.  Everything you need to safely travel day or night.

The recent professional survey conducted 15 August 2025 verifies the excellent condition of this boat.
