The 2012 Majek Illusion 22 (often referred to as the 226) is a specialized shallow-water fishing machine.1 Built in Texas, it is famous for its "copyrighted" hybrid hull design, which attempts to solve the age-old compromise between a flat-bottom boat (shallow draft) and a V-hull (smooth ride).2
Overview & Design
The Illusion’s hull features a unique configuration: 2 feet of "V" on each side with a 4-foot "flat" section down the center.3 This allows the boat to:
• Run Skinny: It can navigate extremely shallow flats where traditional bay boats might bottom out.4
• Carve Turns: Unlike most flat-bottom boats that "slide" through turns, the Illusion’s outer V-hulls bite into the water, allowing it to turn sharply.5
• Handle Chop: The hybrid design helps it cut through bay chop more effectively than a standard flat skiff, providing a much drier ride.6

Common Performance Setup
In 2012, this boat was frequently paired with the Yamaha 225 SHO or Evinrude E-TEC 150/200.13 One of the most sought-after setups for this specific year included the Yamaha TRP (Twin Rotating Prop) lower unit, which provides incredible "hole shot" capability, allowing the boat to jump on plane in very shallow water without spinning out.14
