Jet boat Boats on Boatcrazy

The modern Jet Boat has shown a steady growth over the last 20 years, becoming more appealing to the masses. This type of boat uses the same propulsion system as PWC's, using an inboard engine to a jet pump.

The pump at the back of this boat shoots a high-velocity stream which propels it forward.

Jet boat Boats Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Jet Boat good for families?

One of the biggest positives about a Jet boat is that there is no exposed propeller, making it a great boat for families getting in and out of the water. As a side note, it is always important to have the engine switched off on any boat, when using the rear of the boat to get in and out of the water.

As all brands vary, so do the prices, but the average price of a new Jet Boat is between $21,000 and $66,000. There are plenty of used Jet Boats on Boatcrazy to choose from starting as low as $14,500.

Jet boats can be expensive and they often require specialized maintenance. The engines of a Jet boat differ from the traditional engine, so they will need extra care and attention.

Generally speaking, the 2-stroke jet ski engines last around 200-300 hours, while the 4-stroke jet ski engines last around 300-500 hours when used in Jet Boats.

As the Jet drive system is located inside the boat, it can operate in shallow water with minimal draft. And as there is no propeller, there is very little chance of damaging the boat by hitting bottom.

Jet boats have always been valued as a great small boat, but now they are also becoming popular in watersports and fishing with brands such as Chaparral and Yamaha.

In short, yes. Jet boats have been designed to be both efficient and effective at low speeds as well as fast-moving water. At high speeds, they're able to turn with great agility.
