An airboat—also known as a fanboat—is a flat-bottomed vessel propelled by an aircraft-type propeller powered by an engine, designed to navigate shallow or marshy waters.

They’re commonly used in marshes, swamps, bayous, and shallow rivers like those in the Florida Everglades, Louisiana bayous, and the Mekong Delta—areas inaccessible to conventional boats.
