A commercial boat is a vessel used to transport cargo or passengers for hire, or operated by a business owner as part of commercial activity—not for recreational use.

Common types include commercial fishing vessels (trawlers, seiners, crabbers), patrol boats, passenger ferries, cargo barges, tugboats, and survey or pilot boats.
