2000 Maxum 2300SR Bowrider
The 2000 Maxum 2300SR is a 23'7" (closer to 26-foot with the extended swim platform) fiberglass bowrider built around the idea that a day on the water should be easy, comfortable, and a lot of fun. Whether you are pulling a skier, towing a tube, cruising with the family, or just enjoying a calm afternoon on the lake, this boat is set up to handle all of it without requiring you to make many compromises along the way.
Power comes from a MerCruiser 5.7-liter V8 engine rated at 250 horsepower, paired with a MerCruiser Alpha One stern drive. This is a proven combination that has been used in recreational boating for decades. The carbureted 5.7-liter produces strong, reliable thrust and responds well across the rpm range. Cruising speeds in the 28-32 mph range are comfortable, and the boat is capable of pushing past 40 mph when conditions allow. It is a serious performer for its size and weight class.
The hull is fiberglass and shaped with a deep-V entry, which gives it good tracking and a reasonably soft ride even when the water gets choppy. At around 4,200 pounds, the 2300SR has enough mass to feel planted and stable on the water without being so heavy that it becomes difficult to trailer. The 8-foot 4-inch beam provides a wide, stable platform on the water, and there is room throughout the cockpit for a full group to spread out.
The seating layout is one of the things that makes this model work well for families. A pair of captain's chairs sits at the helm, and the bow area opens up into a dedicated seating section with comfortable cushions. The wrap-around rear cockpit seating rounds out the arrangement. The snap-in carpet allows you to clean the boat more easily or clear the deck when the situation calls for it. An extended swim platform at the stern makes getting in and out of the water easier, and a swim ladder at the transom adds to the convenience.
Standard equipment on this boat includes a bimini top for shade, a bilge blower, a bilge pump, navigation lights, an engine kill switch, a compass, and a full instrument cluster at the helm that includes a tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and water temperature gauge.
An hour meter has been added, which helps track engine use going forward. The boat is also equipped with a Bluetooth stereo, which allows wireless audio from a phone or tablet.
Storage is distributed throughout the hull with gunwale compartments, a glove box at the helm, and additional storage in the cockpit and transom areas. A porta-potty is tucked into the port-side compartment for day-trip convenience.
Maxum was known for building value-oriented boats with solid fit and finish, and the 2300SR represents that well.
This boat has had only two owners. The first owner put 20 hours on it before the current owner purchased it. The current owner has held it for over 24 years, which is a meaningful statement about the relationship someone can build with a well-chosen boat.
